  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 can tomato juice
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • Spices: salt, black pepper, paprika

Instructions

  1. Core and freeze the cabbage head overnight. Thaw it for at least 10 hours before use.
  2. Cook rice according to package directions, reducing time by 5 minutes.
  3. Sauté chopped onions in butter until softened.
  4. Mix cooked rice with sautéed onions, ground beef, seasoning, and half of the tomato sauce mixture.
  5. Prepare the baking pan by spreading some sauce at the bottom.
  6. Fill each cabbage leaf with the meat mixture, roll tightly, and place seam-side down in the pan.
  7. Cover with remaining sauce and bake covered at 350°F for 3-4 hours until tender.
