  • 1 lb chicken or turkey sausage (removed from casings)
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 celery stalks (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 8 cups cubed rustic bread
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • Fresh herbs: sage and thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned; crumble and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until softened. Add apples and cranberries; cook briefly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine bread cubes with cooked sausage and sautéed mixture; stir in herbs.
  5. Pour in broth and melted butter; mix gently until moistened.
  6. Transfer to the baking dish; cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
