  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt (for frosting)
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 1 cup coarse sanding sugar (for decoration)
  • 30 large chocolate chips (for decoration)
  • Round black sprinkles (for decoration)
  • Round red or pink sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together unsalted butter, cream cheese, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Gradually incorporate the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt until a dough forms.
  4. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart. Bake for 14 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
  5. Cool on a wire rack before frosting.
  6. For the frosting, beat unsalted butter with vanilla extract and salt until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream to reach desired consistency. Decorate cooled cookies with frosting and toppings.
