  • 1 lb ground beef (or substitute with turkey)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 cans (10.75 oz each) tomato soup

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to boil and remove the core from the cabbage.
  2. Blanch the whole cabbage for about 2 minutes until leaves are pliable, then cool on a towel.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, salt, pepper, eggs, ketchup, tomato paste, and cooked rice. Mix well.
  4. Take one cabbage leaf and place about two tablespoons of filling at its base; roll tightly while tucking in the sides.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread a thin layer of tomato soup in a baking dish and arrange rolls seam-side down. Pour remaining soup over them.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for about four hours; uncover in the last hour for browning.
