Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh salmon
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon by cutting it into four equal pieces and patting it dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, lemon juice, ginger, chicken broth (or water), and cornstarch until well combined.
  3. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Place the salmon skin-side down in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes without moving it.
  5. Reduce heat to medium; flip the salmon carefully and cook for another 2-3 minutes until almost cooked through.
  6. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to melt in the skillet and pour in the glaze between salmon pieces. Let it bubble for about 20-30 seconds before removing from heat.
  7. Spoon glaze over each piece of salmon to coat before serving hot.
